A passion that unites an entire family

Fratelli Tommasi - monte castelon valpolicella

Bruno Tommasi was the first to become passionate about the world of wine and to dream of a winery of his own.

He passed down this love to his sons Silvano, Maurizio, Valentina and to his nephew nicolò with whom he now manages the Monte Castelon winery.

The family takes care of all stages of the winemaking process: from cultivation to vinification up to subsequent marketing.

A jewel in the heart
of the classic part
of the Valpolicella zone

The soil is predominantly clay-limestone with a high percentage of fragmented rock. The South facing hillside vineyard covers an area of seven hectares and lies at an altitude of 400 to 530 meters above sea level.

The authenticity of the wines is the result of an uncompromising passion which determined the decision to cultivate only indigenous local grape varieties: Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Molinara.

Organic Agriculture

A philosophy which guides us in our endeavour to preserve the natural harmony of the landscape to which we belong. We strive to obtain wine of the highest possible quality through a deep respect for our vines and for our land. Our vines grow on small terraced vineyards held firm by dry built walls known as “marogne”.

Our vines are trained according to the traditional Veronese pergola vine training system. Harvest is rigorously manual, this is the only possible way to select the very best grape bunches that go into our wine enabling us to achieve the highest possible quality

The Winery

The nurturing of our wines begins in the vineyard and continues in the winery, an ideal environment in which our wines can gracefully mature.

Appassimento - monte castelon valpolicella

The grape drying phase

An ancient practice enabling the wine to develop aroma, colour and flavour which will all contribute to expressing incomparable and unique sensations when the wine is in the glass.
